SLG46108 programming

Hello all,
I am completely new to GreenPAK and want to include a SLG46108V with AN-CM-318 on a custom PCB.

How do I program the chip?
Do I need to buy the SLG4DVKADV or are there cheaper options (like using a generic USB to serial adapter or some Arduino sketch)?

Are there other options to get pre programmed chips? According to the FAQ the minimum order quantity is 3000 but my requirements are ~10 pcs.

Best,

gilex

  • For SLG46108V-DIP you can use both the SLG4DVKLITE and SLG4DVKDIP (which costs even less). The SLG4DVKDIP is not suitable for the SLG46108V-SKT.

The SLG46108V-SKT cannot be considered expensive because 50 chips are included with it, it is a really good deal.

I'm not sure how you want to connect an STQFN chip with jumper wires, but if it is in-circuit, please be aware that there is high-voltage involved.

  • For SLG46108V-DIP you can use both the SLG4DVKLITE and SLG4DVKDIP (which costs even less).

At Mouser (the only distributuror carrying both), the SLG4DVKLITE costs $0.5 more than the SLG4DVKDIP. Searching here for SLG4DVKDIP reveals that many users have trouble with that board, either arriving dead or turning dead later on.

  • Allright. I'm always really scared I break the mini-USB connector, which looks really fragile, but I'm using mine trouble-free for about two years now. I do agree that the SLG4DVKLITE looks like a better deal, so you may want to go for that., and I will likely get one myself at some point What I do like about the SLG4DVKDIP though is that you can easily create a connector for it in your project, and then plug it in to do real-time development.
