Hi forum,
I've got a pg-fp5 programmer. Unfortunately, when I turn it on, it doesn't show anything on the LCD. When I connect it to pc with usb, it's recognized and I can do all the functions such as changing hex file and so on. But in self-Test, power supply test fails. Could you please tell how I can fix it? I know it is very old programmer and is not supported by Renesas anymore. Thanks in advance
I believe that you could still send the FP5 in for repair, although the cost may be more than a new FP6 programmer. Depending on exactly which device(s) you are programming, one option may make more sense than the other.
Thanks for the reply. It helped me a lot. I am going to buy a new programmer. I am using 78k and rl78 family microcontrollers.
I checked FP6, it can keep maximum 8 hex files, I wonder to know if there is any programmer that can keep more hex files?
Thanks in advance
The FP6 can do both 78K and RL78, you can confirm this from the document r20ut4163.
There may be a 3rd party programmer that can save more than eight hex-files, but nothing provided by Renesas.
