S5D3 ADC

It is a S5D3 micro. What does it mean exactly the Dynamic range of the ADC12 in the datasheet? It shows a range from 0.25V to VREFH0 - 0.25V. Can´t we use the ADC out of this range or ,simply, its characteristics will be worse?

    Yes you can use the ADC as long as you don't exceed the operating characteristics as stated in the Hardware User's Manual, which are:

    VCC = AVCC0 = VCC_USB = VBATT = 2.7 to 3.6 V
    2.7 ≤ VREFH0/VREFH ≤ AVCC0
    VSS = AVSS0 = VREFL0/VREFL = VSS_USB = 0 V
    Ta = Topr

    So your point regarding "its charcteristics will be worse" is almost true.

    The figures that are stated in the Hardware User Manual are guaranteed figures.
    Renesas guarantee this is the performance you will see, across all of the stated temperate, voltage, frequency values.

    In reality, you will probably see a dynamic range greater that that quoted in the user manual 99.9% of the time.
    But to cover all 100% of the devices, a wide tolerance range is quoted.
