RZ/G1N I2C LOOP BACK TESTING

Hello Everyone,

RZ/G1N processors has 7 I2C channels. can we make one of the channel as MASTER & rest others as slave, is it possible? if yes, then what would be the slave address of the channels connected as slaves.
Any API's for slave address assignment or sample test code in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mohd,

Which version of the Linux BSP are you using?

The older Yocto 1.6 BSP (kernel 3.10) does not have support for I2C Slave, but I do see such support in the newer BSPs.

We haven't used I2C before so I don't have any sample code, but my guess is that everything is done via standard Linux APIs for I2C devices. Here is a nice introduction to the I2C Slave functionality in Linux -

By the way, the RZ/G1N has six I2C channels via the I2C module and three more via the IIC module. Why do you think it has 7 channels?

hi,
My mistake, I've mentioned 7 channels instead of 6. As explained by Mr Georgi, i wont be able to implement loop back since i am using Yocto 1.6 BSP (kernel 3.10).
