Hey all!
I have been working on DA14531 micro - controller, using keil uVision application software to develop a firmware and Dialog Smartbond Flash Programmer application software to load the same.
Details of the hardware/ software applications:1. DA14531: Micro - controller that is being used.2. Keil uVision5: Application to develop the firmware and generate a hex file to load the same. 3. Dialog Smartbond Flash Programmer v1.0.8: Application to load the firmware.4. J - link (Segger JTAG): The interface used to load the firmware.5. SDK_6.0.18: SDK that has basic in-built examples [the main SDK].6. BLE_SDK6_examples: SDK that has advertising in-built examples.
The aim is to achieve the working of DA14531 as a beacon with necessary application. Hence, I would want to link the the above mentioned SDK ie BLE_SDK6_examples to the main used SDK ie SDK_6.0.18.
I tried following the steps mentioned in the section named "EXAMPLE USAGE" of the below website but failed linking them both ie the BLE_SDK6_examples'folder doesn't seem to appear within the SDK_6.0.18 folder.
The reference link: github.com/.../Readme.md
The above link also has the BLE_SDK6_examples that I'm trying to link to the main SDK.
I also tried the same using the SDK_6.0.16.1144 instead of SDK_6.0.18, yet resulted in failure.
PFA the screenshot of the error when tried building the iBeacon code present within the BLE_SDK6_examples' folder before I tried linking the SDKs to one another. Also, the same was observed after I followed the steps for linking.
I highly appreciate any help. TIA.
Warm regards,AXISCADES.
Hi AXISCADES,Thank you for posting your question online. The issue is that SDK v6.0.16 uses ARM Compiler v5 and SDK v6.0.18 uses ARM Compiler v6.We would highly recommend using our latest SDK v6.0.18, but you will need to download the ARM Compiler v6.You can find the ARM Compiler v6 from here: Arm Compiler for Embedded (ACOMPE)Note: You will have to create an account. Please follow our guide on how to install ARM Compiler v6 for Keil IDE: 8. Software Development Tools — getting_started (renesas.com) This guide shows how to install ARM Compiler v5 into Keil, but same steps apply for ARM Compiler v6. Note: Keep in mind that you will have to create a separate folder for ARM Compiler v6 and v5.The script to fix the paths is for SDK v6.0.18, this is the reason it did not work with SDK v6.0.16. If you want to use the SDK v6.0.16 (which uses ARM Compiler v5) please use the attached script.Best Regards,dlg_make_keil5_env_v2.000_ARMCOMPILERV5.zipOV_Renesas
Hey, I genuinely appreciate the help to start with!
I tried both the SDK versions with their respective scripts, yet none seems to work.
Also, if my doubt could be clarified; would the BLE_SDK6_examples' folder be reflected in the main SDK folder?
Or would I be able to just use the BLE_SDK6_examples on its own without any errors as mentioned above with its screenshot?
Hi Cades,
Can you kindly indicate the Keil IDE version that you are using?
ALso, are you able link the SW example with the SDK correctrly ? following the below section from Readme file :
Please make sure that you are getting same messages on the terminal : ...

Hi CADES,
I had the same problem as you.
step 1. download keil mdk & install keil mdk (https://github.com/dialog-semiconductor/BLE_SDK6_examples/blob/main/Readme.md Use Compiler Version 6),
https://www.keil.com/download/product/
step 2.download SDK6.0.18.1182.1 for DA1453x, DA14585/6(There is no SDK in the sample code of github)
https://www.renesas.com/eu/en/products/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth-low-energy/da14531mod-smartbond-tiny-bluetooth-low-energy-module#design_development
step 3.Download sample code from github.
https://github.com/dialog-semiconductor/BLE_SDK6_examples/blob/main/Readme.md
step 4.Download Python & install(Link between SDK and sample code requires python script)
https://www.python.org/
step 5.folder location(You can refer to my settings)
D:\BLE_SDK6_examples-main
D:\dev\6.0.18.1182.1 (Put the SDK into the dev folder)
step 6.Open the Windows Command Line Interface , key in the command.
cd /d D:\BLE_SDK6_examples-main
dlg_make_keil5_env_v2.000.py -sdkpath “D:\dev\6.0.18.1182.1”
step 7.link complete
step 8.open the keil mdk project also compile
I hope you find this information helpful.
Hey!
I use Keil uVision5 with it's MDK being MDK53a.
Yes, IAM able to link them both following the same steps.
Below is the screenshot for the same.
Yet, on building the project the errors mentioned before retains.
Also, I tried using both SDKs (SDK_6.0.16.1144 and SDK_6.0.18.1182) with their respective python scripts. The result remained unchanged.
Warm regards,
AXISCADES.
Hey Barry!
I honestly appreciate the effort taken to reply, thank you!!
On using ARM compiler version 6, following errors pop up on building one of the BLE examples present in the SDK.
Hence, I have been using ARM compiler 5 which works fine for DA14531.
Getting back to the linking of them both, I followed the same steps and below was the result.
Yet, the same errors as below pop up on building any of the projects.
Do not execute the Clean command to see if there is a chance.
My keil mdk configuration.
Best regards.
SDK paths and examples don't seem to be really linked.
Has the name of dlg_make_keil5_env_v2.000.py been changed to dlg_make_keil5_env_v2.py?
I haven't executed the clean command as of yet.
Below are the images of the Keil MDK configuration I use with the ARM compiler 6 being chosen.
I have selected the device to be DA14531 in the " device " section; hence the system viewer file in the " target " section has been set to the same.
Maybe there is a difference? But I just tried your settings and compiled without any problems.Maybe there is a problem with the link between the sample code and the SDK.
The same doesn't work for me.
Is there a way?
